Vatican published the first Malay-Latin dictionary in 1531.

Christians, particularly Roman Catholics, have warmed up to prime minister Najib Razak after he met pope Benedict XVI in Rome to establish diplomatic ties between his 13-state federation and the Vatican on July 18. Andrew Lawrence, editor of The Herald, a Catholic weekly newspaper, says the move marks 500 years of cultural and educational ties between Malaysia and the Holy See. He notes that the Vatican published the first Malay-Latin dictionary in 1531.
